About Us
PhotoAcademy was established in 2005. Now it is the largest photo school in Latvia, providing adult education. PhotoAcademy is a unique space where the best Latvian photographers come together to share their ideas, discuss their work and teach theory of photography. Here you can learn everything that you need to know to work successfully with light, color, composition and genre in photography. The professional photographers also guide practical workshops, making sure that each student gets his or her own “hands-on” experience of photography.
The aim of the photo school is to concentrate on helping individuals to develop their creativity, taking their photographic and artistic skills to another level, and express themselves using the means of photography.
The courses are provided at four levels of proficiency. In each class, the theory of the photographic techniques and the main principles of photography are complemented by practice. Homework is an important part of the learning process. Each student is provided with the possibility to exhibit his/her works at the end.
The groups are small (not more than 12 people in each group) in order to allow for individual approach to each student. The school has the photo studio and the darkroom fully equipped for the learning purposes, as well as an exhibition hall. PhotoAcademy has excellent location in the centre of Riga, with own parking. The school provides classes in Latvian, Russian as well as in the English language.
PhotoAcademy cooperates internationally. It participates in several charity projects. PhotoAcademy also holds exhibitions, organizes free open lectures and photo contests on the regular basis
