Melih Zafer Arican (Istanbul)

Born in Turkey in 1969, graduated from Anadolu University in 1991 with a BA degree in Journalism where he started creating works in photography. Then he went to USA to get  an MFA degree in Fine Art Photography at the Academy of Art College, San Francisco, which he completed in 1996. Back in Turkey, he returned to Anadolu University, with a thesis on news photography, which earned him a Doctorate degree in Media Studies in 2001. In 2005 he moved to Istanbul and started to work for Bahcesehir University where he founded a photography and video department, now it is considered one of the best photography schools in Turkey. He is still the Head of Photography and Video Department at Bahcesehir University, Istanbul, Turkey. Beyond the academic studies, Arıcan continues to pursue his personal career in photography. He exhibits his work regularly at solo and group exhibitions in Turkey and overseas. His works are in personal and institutional collections within Turkey and abroad.
